On November 14, 2024, in St. Petersburg, on the territory of the Sea Port St. Petersburg JSC, an off-site meeting of the Committee for Technology, Mechanization, and Environment Protection, organized by the Association of Commercial Seaports, was held.

Representatives of Rosprirodnadzor, the Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on Ecology and Nature Management, heads and specialists of environmental departments of stevedoring companies, heads and experts of design organizations, research institutes, and environmental centers took part in the offsite meeting of the Committee.

Serik Zhusupov, executive director of the Association of Commercial Seaports, Andrey Yaroslavtsev, member of the board of directors of the Association of Commercial Seaports, managing director of Sea Port St. Petersburg JSC addressed the meeting participants, and other speakers at the event also presented information and reports.

During the meeting, the participants discussed a broad range of issues related to compliance with environmental legislation in seaports and shared experiences. They exchanged knowledge on the implementation of environmental control and supervision during economic and other activities in ports, both at the stage of their construction (with the receipt of an ecological supervision opinion) and at the stage of operation. In addition, special attention was paid to the main risks, restrictions, and problems in establishing the boundaries of sanitary protection zones of seaports.

In addition, the issue of the specifics of passing the state environmental assessment of design documentation for planned (intended) economic activity, and documentation justifying economic and other activities was touched upon. A representative of the Construction dredging company LLC took a direct part in the discussion of issues during the event.

The attendees noted that the issues identified during the meeting are highly relevant and have practical value.
