The first stage of the sailing Regata2Seas took place in the waters of the Petrovsky fairway of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea from July 18 to 21, 2024.
The 2020 global pandemic forced the Ust-Luga Cup organizers to look for a new format for the event that would allow participants to preserve the regatta. This is how the idea of holding the Regata2Seas came about. Since 2020, the first stage of the cup has been held in the waters of Saint Petersburg, while the second is on the Black Sea.
The competition involves teams of non-professional yachtsmen – representatives of port and logistics organizations and their partners, managers, and employees of the largest Russian companies. The teams participate in races using Russian mX700 class yachts under the guidance of experienced skippers.
In 2024, the Construction Dredging Company LLC employees took part in the first stage of the Regata2Seas for the first time, successfully mastered the yacht rigging, and learned the basics of sailing. The company team's debut demonstrated outstanding teamwork coherence and focus on achieving high results. Based on the results of the three-day sailing race, the Construction Dredging Company LLC employees took 20th place out of 34 participants.
To practice and master skills, improve teamwork efficiency, and understand the specifics of sail management under various weather conditions, the Construction Dredging Company LLC team continues a series of training sessions on cruising mX700 class yachts in September 2024. During the training season, employees learned how to use tailwinds and headwinds skillfully, studied the features of setting, furling, and shifting each of the three sails on mX700 class yachts, improved teamwork quality, and are ready to demonstrate high results in the 2025 regatta though a fair sports competition.
